Taxonomy help; Bus shelter green roof; Robotic plant drone

by Jane Milliman on September 25, 2012

Hi there! ETTGPro has been more of an every-other-week thing lately. Thanks for reading, as always.

By now you know that I collect accounts of (seemingly or actually) dumb things like this Robotic Plant Drone that Moves Houseplants to Sunny Spots. But this one I like, because it’s homemade. You can make one too! I can’t, but I’m not mechanically-inclined.

From the Buffalo News, a story about a cool green roof on a bus shelter.

Found this awesome site at three in the morning—can’t remember how. If you sent to to me, thanks. It’s a working list of all plant species. Names are classified as Accepted, Synonym, or Unresolved. A plant geek’s dream!

The Garden Writers Association scholarship application for Spring 2013 is online—Deadline December 3.

From Nursery Management, details on the American in Bloom photo contest.

Last week I listed the Buffalo Gardens Symposium. It’s kind of involved, or maybe I’m dim, but the theme continues at the Gender Institute October 15-19, and details about that are here. My favorite talk title: “Landscape and Sanity.” Indeed.

I knew the Done Center in Henrietta was on the market, but it didn’t occur to me that they’d stop taking bookings for 2013. Seems possibly problematic for GardenScape. And the gun show, for that matter!
