NYSNLA Notes the Passing of Hall of Famer Rosie Shearer

NYSNLA regrets to announce the passing of James T. “Rosie” Shearer of Herkimer and Clifton Park, who passed away on Friday, December 23. We extend our sympathies to Mr. Shearer’s famiy and friends.

Inventor of Miracle Gro and Redi-Plant rose packaging, Rosie Shearer was a longtime NYSNLA member in Region 7–Tri-County Nursery and Landscape Association, and was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame in 1994. Known and nicknamed for his expertise in rose growth and care, he was retired from a 47-year career with Jackson and Perkins.

Calling hours will be Monday from 10 am to noon, followed immediately by the funeral sevice at Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi & Burns Funeral Home, 329 S. Washington St., Herkimer. For more information about Mr. Shearer and Monday’s arrangements, read the obituatry in the Times Union.
