Proposed Legislation and List of Invasive Species Drafted.

Hearings are Scheduled.

Ensure the voice of our industry is heard!

As you know, New York State Nursery and Landscape Association is a member of the Invasive Species Advisory Council and worked with them to provide input and make recommendations to the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets and the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation regarding legislation and plants to be included in the proposed list of species to be banned from sale and ownership in New York State due to their “invasive nature.” This proposed legislation will have a significant impact on our industry and our voice needs to be heard.

The proposed list and legislation have been finalized and were published in the State Register on October 23. Both are available for review on the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation web site.

NYSNLA’s leadership and legislative team are reviewing the proposed legislation and list and preparing an Association response. We will also be drafting a summary and talking points to share with the full NYSNLA membership. In the meantime, please reach out to Association headquarters via email at [email protected] or call 518.694.4430 if you have questions or comments.
