Fall reminders & more

by Jane Milliman on September 19, 2014

Happy Friday, friends! This is going to be a short-n-sweet, and then I’m closing up shop early to go to the GFLNLA picnic. If you’re around Rochester, I hope to see you there.

I went on a mini-odyssey with my pal Laurie Broccolo to CNY this week and saw some very fun things, but my favorite was this, at Ballantyne Gardens.

Doing research for a friend, I came across this helpful resource: Plants to Grow Under Black Walnuts, which put me in mind of this (which I have shared here before): Fall Transplant Hazards, hosted by Horticultural Associates. We can remember a lot of this stuff, but boy is it nice to have a list when you need one.

And finally, Biodiversity of Plants Is a Good Thing…Even When They’re Dead—Elizabeth Farnsworth explains new research on the impact of plant diversity on decomposition processes.

Hey, I said short, right? Check out the events page for more, including Sensenig’s contractor party, Doug Tallamy at FLCC, and the NYSNLA Leadership Forum, all coming up soon.
