Good morning and a happy Friday to you all! Thanks much for reading ETTGPro. Please forward it on, tell your friends, etc. Thanks!

- Given that the “Bridge of Flowers” idea seems to be trending worldwide (I’m involved in the one planned for Rochester, the GardenAerial), it cracked me up when the great Noel Kingsbury referred to “London’s garden bridge” as “an unimaginably stupid idea.” This link is to his facebook page—scroll down a few posts for more of his commentary and links to pertinent articles.
- Speaking of the GardenAerial, the Genesee Brewery has started a new line of short-run beers-for-a-cause, and the GA is its very first adoptee! Check out Karen Milter’s full story in the Democrat and Chronicle.
- And speaking of world-class garden designers…Crazy about Piet Oudolf? Want to see recent shots of his private garden? Yes, you do!
- We already have a winner, but if you feel like playing the Upstate Gardeners’ Journal‘s latest round of Stump the Chump, it’s right here. The answer is in the comments, so don’t read them if you don’t want a spoiler. Tom Draves calls EVERY time and always gets it right, but the poor guy is never first! However, he has vowed that HE will submit a stumper for a (very near) future issue, so stay tuned, because you know that one will be a toughie.
- Good news via the Ithaca Journal: Finger Lakes wineries upbeat about grape harvest.
- Congrats to Dave Taylor, who writes that since retiring from Northern Nurseries he “just had the longest, best summer since high school.” Sounds like he and his wife have been doing a lot of touring around and looking at gardens. Maybe we can twist his arm to write about some for the UGJ…we’ll see.
And a couple of heads-up-style announcements:
- The garden center/greenhouse portion of Stella’s on 332 in Farmington is up for lease.
- Actually, there are a few of these types of properties on the market in the Rochester area. Email me for more info.
- The inventory and equipment of CNY’s Seneca Trail Garden Center are going on the block TOMORROW.
