Hello and welcome! Last week was news-licious. But first, the sad. The City of Rochester’s Jim Farr, great friend to many of us, lost his wife Joan late last month. Our condolences to the Farr family.
- I’m off to Cornell this morning for the annual Floriculture Field Day and annual Kathy Pufahl container design contest (not to mention ice cream social). Here are last year’s winners, and the grand prize winner is pictured below. Hope to see you there!
- Novelty Manufacturing has co-acquired the assets of EarthBox Inc (via Greenhouse Management.). What do you think about the EarthBox?
- Crowdfund Your Next Greenhouse Project? Think twice. This attempt caused “confusion” and the campaign was cancelled.
- In the mood for a little Stump the Chump? We have a winner already, but sometimes it’s fun just to play.
- I’m a little late, but congrats to Rochester’s Edna Claunch for her medal from the Garden Clubs of America.
- I’ll be interested to see where this goes. MasterTag teams up with Apple’s iBeacon (via Grower Talks).
- Planting Garden Center Flowers Is Good For Bees And Other Beneficial Insects (via Greenhouse Grower).
- Champion Black Walnut Tree Flattened in Rhinebeck. Interestingly (probably only to me), I had friends that lived in the Schuyler apartments when I was a student at Bard. It had been decommissioned at a school building by then but still functioned in a dorm-like manner.
